Tripta Lakhanpal: "I finally managed to achieve in my 70's what I dreamt of as a 16-year old"
Age is, clearly, an issue of mind over matter. If YOU don't mind, it doesn't matter. Living life by this adage is the evergreen Tripta Lakhanpal, who is currently making heads turns as the sassy and saucy pardaadi aka 'PD'in Zee TV's latest fiction show 'Zindagi Ki Mehek'. This 75-year old talented actress is breaking all the stereotypes associated with ageing and reiterating that age is just a number. Although she was passionate about acting from a very young age, Tripta stepped into the world of ad films only at age 63 and even as a senior citizen, she was an instant hit with her quirky, spunky personality.  She did tons of ad assignments with various leading brands but her dream of a meaty role in a mainstream Bollywood film evaded her. It was in the year 2012 that Tripta saw the realisation of her biggest dream! She got her first Bollywood break and landed the role of Kangana Ranaut's grandmother in the superhit movie 'Queen'. She received wide acclaim for her portrayal of the spirited 'Dadi'.
Well, this isn't all... there's more to this rockstar dadi! A fitness freak, Tripta is proficient in sports like Tennis, Squash and even rifle shooting. It was at the age of 50 when this determined lady started to learn swimming and is a regular swimmer till date. Last but definitely not the least, Tripta was the senior-most member of a Mansarover Yatra team that trekked up to the Kailash Parbat. Needless to say, what this inspirational woman is doing at her age can indeed give goose bumps to countless youngsters. She is a role model who proves that there is no age limit for learning, achieving or reaching out to one's dreams.
On being a part of Zee TV's Zindagi Ki Mehek, the actress shares, "The show is a lifetime opportunity for me. I can't stop thanking Zee TV and producer Saurabh Tewari for selecting me to play this role. I always wanted to be an actor, but circumstances were such that I couldn't pursue my dream at a young age. And, what I couldn't achieve then, I am trying to achieve now. I got so busy with my family and kids, that my foremost dream took a back seat. But, as they say, where there is a will there is a way. I eventually found my way and I'm living my dream. I finally managed to achieve in my 70s what I dreamt of as a 16-year-old girl. I feel really content and happy about the work I'm doing. In Zindagi Ki Mehek, I'm playing the character of PD (Par Daadi). PD might be the eldest member of the family but her thoughts are as young & modern as a teenager. A big fan of veteran actor Dilip Kumar, she is very close to her granddaughter Mehek and shares a special bond with her".
She further adds, "It is a pleasure shooting for the show as it's happening in my own city, Delhi. I couldn't have asked for more. Each of my co-stars is like family to me. They give me immense love, respect and care. I'm enjoying every bit of it. Infact, every day I wait to leave from home and reach the sets. It has been a wonderful experience so far. I just want to perform better and entertain the viewers with my performance."
